When a compound arrives looking or performing differently than expected, the instinct is almost always to suspect the source — a bad batch, a diluted fill, a supplier cutting corners. Often, the actual failure happened after the compound left the lab entirely, sitting in a mail truck or a porch in August.
What Heat Actually Does
Most lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptides are considerably more heat-stable in their dry, unreconstituted form than most buyers assume — that stability is part of the point of lyophilization. But “more stable” is not “immune,” and stability isn't unlimited: repeated heat cycling, or extended exposure to genuinely high temperatures during transit, does accelerate degradation, even in a sealed, unreconstituted vial.
The Part of the Journey Nobody Controls
A lab-tested batch leaves climate-controlled storage, gets packed, and enters a shipping network with zero temperature accountability at any point until it reaches a doorstep. In summer transit through much of the country, a parcel sitting in a truck or a distribution facility can reasonably see internal temperatures well above the range products were tested and stored under — for hours, sometimes longer, with nobody along the chain measuring or reporting it.

This is the piece that confuses buyers most: two orders, same supplier, same batch, same COA — and one performs fine while the other seems off. The compound wasn't different. The week was. A package shipped on a mild spring day and one shipped during a heat wave, from the same warehouse shelf, can have genuinely different thermal histories by the time they're opened.
What Actually Helps
- Insulated packaging with a cold pack for warm-weather shipments — inexpensive relative to the risk it addresses.
- Ordering timed around weather, not just convenience, during summer months.
- Prompt delivery pickup — a package sitting on a hot porch for six extra hours matters more than the transit time itself.
- Reconstituting and refrigerating promptly on arrival, rather than leaving vials at room temperature “until later.”
None of this shows up on a certificate of analysis, because a COA can only describe the compound at the moment it was tested. Everything that happens to it afterward is on the shipper and the buyer — which is exactly why it gets blamed on the supplier so often. It's the invisible part of the chain, so it's the part nobody thinks to defend.
